LIONEL LLC AND MAXIM ENTERPRISE, INC.
ANNOUNCE JOINT VENTURE TO
MANUFACTURE WOODEN TRAIN PRODUCT
UNDER THE LIONEL BRAND

Lionel LLC and Maxim Enterprise, Inc. announced today that they have entered into a joint venture to manufacture wooden toy train sets bearing the Lionel name and logo. The initial sets and accessories will feature a selection of Lionel’s legendary railroad brand names as well as some of its most recent releases and accessories.

Lionel LLC is the country’s leading marketer of model O-Gauge trains and accessories and has been since it was founded in 1900. Not only is Lionel one of the most widely recognized brand in the toy train industry, it remains one of the most recognized brands in America. Lionel has been at the center of every major innovation in toy train manufacturing and marketing since its inception.

Maxim Enterprises is a Lakeville, Mass.-based toy manufacturer specializing in wooden products. Founded more than fifty years ago, it is one of the toy industry’s leading manufacturer of classic wooden toys and accessories.

“Lionel is an American classic,” states Jerry Calabrese, President and CEO of Lionel. “Partnering with a company known for its quality and innovation is the perfect way for Lionel to extend its brand into the wooden train market.”

Chuck Millington, President and Chief Executive Officer of Maxim Enterprise, Inc. adds, “People remember the first time they saw a Lionel train and they want to pass on that feeling of excitement and enjoyment to their children. We at Maxim just wanted to be a part of that special tradition, and felt we could reach the younger children and introduce them to a brand they will enjoy throughout their lives.”

Designs and prototypes of the train sets and accessories will be unveiled early 2006, and the remainder of the line is expected to be available for shipping to retail, catalog, and e-commerce stores throughout the United States and Canada shortly thereafter. Maxim is also continuing to work with Lionel LLC on additional products that will be available later in 2006.
