Chesapeake & Ohio F-19 4-6-2 Pacific Locomotives
   In the 1930s, the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway developed the first Class F-19 4-6-2 steam locomotives to pull its heavyweight passenger trains. These powerful locomotives set a new standard of excellence. Today railfans can relive those glory days of steam passenger travel with the F-19 4-6-2 Pacific steam locomotives #490 and #494 offered by Lionel. Locomotive #490, The Sportsman, is decorated with a colonial eagle on its feedwater heater. Locomotive #494, The George Washington, has a cameo of the first president of the United States on its feedwater heater, and a sign board on the tender emblazoned with "The George Washington". Both engines can pull a long consist of heavyweight passenger cars, which are available separately.

Chesapeake & Ohio F-19 4-6-2 Pacific "The George Washington" #494
   In 1932, the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway introduced its premier Pullman train, The George Washington. It commemorated the 200th anniversary of our first president's birth, who as St. James River Canal Company honorary president had direct lineage to the C&O. Advertised as "The Most Wonderful Train in the World" and pulled by a Class F-19 4-6-2 Pacific, this was the world's first air-conditioned train. Operating over the 599 miles between Washington, D.C. and Cincinnati, Ohio, it set a new standard for excellence.
   Born at the depth of the Great Depression, "The George," as it became known, featured Hepplewhite and Duncan Fyffe furnishings reminiscent of colonial times. It soon became one of the most highly regarded U.S. passenger trains. Relive those glory days of high-speed mainline steam by adding The George to your passenger fleet.
