Cotton Belt SD-40T-2
With intake vents positioned at the lower rear of the hood, SD-40T-2 locomotives were built to operate through snow sheds and tunnels. Lionel offers a conventional and a LEGACY-equipped version of this diesel engine in 2008. The conventional Union Pacific has the scale size and detail of Lionel Standard O, but with electronics geared toward operators who prefer transformer-only operation. The Cotton Belt SD40T-2 offers more technological advancement with the new LEGACY Control System, along with Odyssey II Speed Control and LEGACY RailSounds.
