Phantom Locomotive and Passenger Cars
   By the 1920s, the automobile was steadily growing in popularity as a means of transporting passengers and hauling freight. It was clear that this revolution would threaten the railroad industry.
   In Pratt’s Hollow, Missouri, a clandestine group of professional railroad designers secretly collaborated to develop a modern locomotive that would triumph over the automobile by employing many new technologies in the design of railroad equipment. To the Pratt’s Hollow group, efficiency was paramount in competing with the auto industry, but not at the expense of style. Until the designs were completed and patented, these new ideas were carefully guarded from public knowledge. Unfortunately, this never happened.
   Had the Pratt’s Hollow tale been true, who knows what would’ve been whooshing down the rails today. The Phantom passenger cars and Phantom III locomotive all include eerie interior illumination. The Phantom III, like the previous Phantom and Phantom II, features unique sound effects specially designed for these fantastical locomotives.

   First introduced in 1959, the Missile Launch Train Set remains a favorite among Lionel space and military collectors. With the Lionel Missile Launch Train Set, you have all you need to defend your layout from attack. The engine is equipped with four missiles, set to launch at your command. Launch your chopper at the push of a button for a reconnaissance mission. Supporting the action are a stretcher caboose and two flatcars, loaded with more missiles. With the addition of the TrainMaster Command Control system, the #44 locomotive’s missiles can be launched with the push of a button on the CAB-1 Remote Controller.
