Milwaukee Road LEGACY EP-2 "Bipolar" #E-1 Milwaukee Road EP-2 "Bipolar"Electric LocomotivesThe massive Milwaukee Road "Bipolar" locomotives are exciting additions to the Lionel Standard O electric roster. The Milwaukee Road's Class EP-2 was equipped with only two poles per traction motor and relied on motor armatures, not gears. The Bipolars ran at very low RPMs, and these locomotives were known for their quiet operation.Built in 1918 and 1919 by General Electric, the Bipolars were constructed in three sections. The end sections contained the electrical equipment, and the center section contained a boiler. This unique configuration allowed them to snake through curves on the Milwaukee Road's Coast Division. The Lionel Milwaukee Road Biploars are equipped with the Lionel LEGACY Control System and LEGACY Cruise Control. Milwaukee Road Olympian Hiawatha Heavyweight Passenger Cars are available separately.
