On October 1, 2016 Lionel President Howard Hitchcock visited
the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club clubhouse to present them as the winners
of the inaugural Ambassador Club of the year award (2015-2016). Seven clubs participated in the program from
July 2015 through June 2016 and CLRC came out on top scoring a perfect 60
points for the year.
Over 100 club and family members attended the event where
Hitchcock presented Herb Koch, president of the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad
Club, with a plaque, a banner and one-of-a-kind Made in the USA boxcar
congratulating the club and their members for all their hard work over the
year. Hitchcock had the opportunity to
mingle with many members of the club and enjoy a great BBQ lunch provided by
the members. Another special opportunity
arose at the event where Hitchcock and Koch participated in the official ribbon
cutting ceremony of the clubs brand-new running layout.
The 2016-2017 Ambassador Program is currently under way and
the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad club has tough competition to keep the trophy.
