Lionel Trains at Grand Central Train Show in New York
More News
Every November, Lionel Trains present their gift to the
people of the City of New York. That’s when the MTA opens their museum
annex in Grand Central Terminal for the annual Holiday Train Show. For more information, visit Grand Central Terminal's website starting November 14, 2016.

Lionel Trains make their way from a model of the landmark
terminal through a condensed look at the city, passing the Empire State
building (Where King Kong clings to the upper floors and looks at a two
dimensional Fay Wray, just above a fantasy Lionel Trains skyscraper.) and
headed to the suburbs. Along the way a Lionel subway rattles along an
elevated section, and under the city streets Metro North trains make stops at
stations. The Polar Express™ makes the longest tour of this 34 foot long
exhibit. Passenger trains pull in and out of the platforms of Grand Central – and a work train inspects the tracks and switches. Steam,
diesel and electric trains are represented in this rail themed metropolis.

The museum annex includes a gift shop, where transit and
transportation items are for sale, and if you want to create your own railroad
empire, Lionel starter sets, separate sale cars, along with holiday gift items
and apparel are available for sale.

A favorite since its first appearance 11 years ago in 2005,
over 200,000 visitors view this jewel of a display, created for Lionel by
TrainWorx of Dallas Texas.
The best part of this is that admission is free - The New York Transit Museum Gallery Annex is located in the
shuttle passage on 42nd Street and Park Avenue, adjacent to the Station Master’s
Office.
The exhibit will be open until early next year, with the last day to view it on Sunday, February 26, 2017.
