#54 Ballast Tamper---Part of the Postwar Celebration Series, the original #54 Ballast Tamper first handled Maintenance of Way duties on O gauge railroads of the 1950s and 1960s. This self-propelled unit cruises at normal speed to a trouble spot on your line. A track actuator triggers the unit slowing its speed while the six tampers pop up and down. A second track actuator halts the tamping action and restores the car to normal speed.
