Chessie System VISION GP40-2 #GM50 To celebrate their 50th year of operation, EMD chose one member of Chessie's 1972 order of GP40-2s to wear a special paint scheme. Painted solid gold from pilot to pilot, trucks to dynamic brake fans and numbered "GM50" the unmistakable locomotive went into service following it's ceremonial debut and remained in these colors for many years. Eventually repainted and renumbered multiple times, the locomtive was finally retired by CSX and today resides in the B&O Museum in Baltimore.
