Union Pacific Desert Victory TMCC SD40-2 #3593 On February 27th, 1991 a 392,000-pound tribute was paid by the Union Pacific Railroad to the American troops serving in the Persian Gulf War. UP 3593, an EMD SD-40-2, rolled out of the North Little Rock shops in full desert camouflage dress. Union Pacific railroad employees had repainted the SD-40-2 as a symbol of their support for fellow workers called to active duty for the Persian Gulf War. Dedicated less than 12 hours before the cease-fire was announced, it was hailed as "Desert Victory" by UP railroaders. Our SD-40-2 is prototypically modeled after UP's 3593, right down to the intricate camouflage patterns.
