Lionel Auction of TOY FAIR Boxcars Fuels Philanthropic Efforts
(Chesterfield, Mich.,) – Lionel announced today that it is auctioning nine TOY FAIR Boxcars
(6-29910) that ran on the Lionel layout at the 100th American International TOY FAIR™ in New York City in February 2003 to benefit the Toy Industry Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Toy Industry Association.
"Lionel has attended over 90 of the 100 TOY FAIRs that have taken place over the last century and what better way to support our friends at the Toy Industry Foundation with a charity auction with our product that ran at their anniversary celebration?" said Lionel Public Relations & Promotions Manager Cara Orchard. "We are extremely excited to work so closely with the Toy Industry Foundation, as we work together to promote the positive development of disadvantaged children."
Each boxcar is identified with a special TOY FAIR insignia to indicate that it was showcased during the 100-year celebration and comes with a letter from Lionel President Bill Bracy congratulating buyers on their purchase and thanking them for their donation to the Toy Industry Foundation.
The auction will be held from August 1, 2003 through August 10, 2003 on eBay. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Toy Industry Foundation, the philanthropic structure that allows the industry to make toys and play available to disadvantaged children in North America.
"For more than 100 years Lionel has brought smiles to the faces of children all over the world through its trains and playthings," said Terri Bartlett, executive director of the Toy Industry Foundation. "Through this auction program, Lionel is giving nine lucky individuals the opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind 100th Anniversary Boxcar and, at the same time they’ll experience satisfaction knowing their purchase is contributing to the lives of boys and girls in need."
